Winter Warmers for your Fressko

In the Northern Hemisphere, our friends are well and truly in the thick of winter. And with bunkering down and feeling good on the top of the agenda at the moment, we like to think of as many hearty, warming recipes as we can all enjoy at home.

Hot teas, coffees and hot water infusions ideas are aplenty these days with combinations including everything from spices, veggies and fruits to a cheeky snifter of booze. Soups and broths are up there on our ‘getting cozy’ agenda too and have been a winter staple dating back to 20,000 BC. (1)

So, pop a woolly jumper on, light the fire, warm up the stove, boil the kettle, whatever you need to get cracking on some of our favourite winter warmers!

Bone broth has been around for thousands of years as food and as medicine (5). When our ancestors hunted and gathered their food, it was unheard of to waste any part of the animal, which is why boiling the bones became common. Boasting benefits from skin health to gut health, bone broth is good for you and easy to make. Try out our recipe using Nutra Organics Bone Broth Powder.

Hot Toddy

Glass fressko flask with lemon ginger honey and whisky

Easily a favourite of ours, the humble hot toddy has been around centuries and believed to have been invented in Scotland in the 1700s (6) . With scotch whisky being a staple at the time, lemon and honey were added to please the palates of the women in the village who disliked the harsh smokey liquor. Check out our recipe using delicious, healing manuka honey and ginger.
